I use developmentally effective approaches to connect with children and families and to guide me in creating learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate for children. Recognizing that all children are unique individuals helps to me prepare appropriate activities for the various learning styles in the classroom. To provide positive relationships and supportive interactions I create a good communication by listening to what children have to say and foremost respect their individuality. Using multiple strategies and tools for young children in my care including technology helps me to better assist children depending on how they learn best. Moreover I acknowledge that the use of technology is a very important part in our society and its best that children obtain those skills at an early age. I will continue to search for developmentally and effective approaches to connect and to better assist the children and families and very importantly reflect on my practice to see what it is that I am doing to promote positive outcomes for children.
Artifact
I created a lesson plan analysis to show my understanding of Standard 4 “ Using Developmentally Approaches to Connect with Children and families.” This lesson plan analysis demonstrates my understanding of creating developmentally appropriate activities and using effective strategies and tools with young children because I evaluate the lesson plans found online with the use of technology and analyzed the lesson to be developmentally appropriate and the learning outcomes to be achievable. I also adapted my lesson to fit the children in my care by demonstrating cultural and linguistic diversity by being bilingual for all the children to benefit from the same learning experience. In addition, I had to think about how to that adapt the lesson for children with developmental challenges or disabilities, to made sure that the room set up was inviting, accessible, and the appropriate material was provided for all children. As a strong childhood practitioner I will continue to analyze any lesson plan that I decide on introducing to the children in my care to assure myself that what the learning outcomes I am trying to transmit are appropriate and attainable.
