I know that as a professional observing, documenting and assessing young children is essential in the field of early childhood. The reason for my belief is because by having this systems in practice I become more mindful in how to better prepare for all young children. In addition, using these systems serves as a guide to identify the needs of each child and understand the uniqueness in every child. Furthermore, by having written data of children’s strengths and areas of improvement helps me to set goals to promote positive outcomes. Lastly, documenting, assessing and observing helps me to create parent involvement by having concrete representation of children’s development.
Artifact
Documentation on Lesson: " What do you want to be when you grow up?"
I am including the documentation piece of the lesson I conducted at my Practicum site on what children would like to be when they grow up. This documentation shows my understanding of NAEYC Standard 3 "Observing, Documenting, and Assesing to Support Young Children and Families" because of the variety of tools I used to be able to develop positive outcomes for the children. This documentation also serves as a visual to share with families and other professionals to continue on building upon children learning.

Children Assessment and Playground Assessment
I am including two assessment that I created in my Child Development classes.
I created a Safety Assessment Checklist for an outdoor playground area in a daycare center to make sure that the equipment and overall playground was safe for the children to play in and be physically active.
In the other assessment I conducted I was able to gather some information regarding the health and nutrition of the child with the help of the parent.

Teacher Research Project : Child Case Study
In this Teacher Research Project using different tools and methods of observation I was able to see where this child is developmentally, his areas of strength and areas of improvement. After all of the data collected, I created a panel to use as documentation, that gives a visual representation of my Research Project.
